When I think of Christmas the word "surprise" comes to mind. My most memorable Christmas growing up was when my father surprised me (not with a Red Rider BB Gun) with presents from the Magic Store: magic linking rings, decks of cards that did amazing things, and 8 volumes of Tarbell Course in Magic. I could not have been happier. What a gift! But you can tell I am getting older. Now I am happy with some socks or a tie and to see everyone else in the family happy. More and more I am filled with wonder at the surprise of the first Christmas when on a very ordinary night some very ordinary shepherds in a very ordinary country were startled by angels lighting up the sky and announcing that God had come to earth and they would find him sleeping over there in a manger. Yes, Christmas is about surprises.

Merry Christmas, Pastor Brian
